What was the best compliment you’ve received?

One of the best compliments I’ve received was from a friend and colleague who complimented me on how healthy I looked. It was a simple shift from it being a comment about my appearance. Nothing grinds my gears more than someone who says, oh you’ve lost weight, or have you gained some weight? Especially for someone with an eating disorder, these types of comments always send me in a tailspin.

Let’s normalize complimenting people on things other than their appearance. Tell them how smart they are, how comfortable and safe they make you feel, that you cherish their friendship and support. Compliment them on what a hard worker or great listener they are, how much potential you see in them, how you’ve seen them working hard on themselves and you’re proud of them.

I could go on, but you get the point ☺️

In case no one has told you yet today, I love you and I’m proud of you for everything you’ve accomplished today, even if that was just getting out of bed. ❤️
